plans for February

Unfortunately, I cannot manage to go to Vilnius next weekend because of many school deadlines, forthcoming exams, final thesis, etc...
HOWEVER, due to the fact that I'll have only 2 exams in January and nothing to do in February, I'll make this trip for sure:) Moreover, I found really cheap traveling options!!!
So according to my plan...
Krakow - Warsaw -Vilnius - Riga - Tallin - Helsinki by boat OR Stocholm by plane - and coming back on the same way except that instead of Vilnius, I'd go to Kaunas (also in Lithuania).
We'll see, everything depends on budget and time:)
If you feel like to come with me, let me know ;)

Gdańsk and Sopot

where is the sea? right there:)
Solidarity museum - the entrance
our travelling group
Crooked House - unbalanced

Monument of Solidarity
I'm really glad that we made this trip to the other side of the country.. Despite the really long train way (15 hours) and some creepy guy, it was a perfect weekend:) 6 of us - Shane, Juliana, Shirley, Cory, Valentina and me - decided to travel together and I have to say, I really liked to travel with all of them:) Also, having an American, an Irish and a Canadian in our group was source of many funny moments and debates concerning English language :)
the world's wood longest pier

We had so much fun... arriving to Gdańsk, Cory accidently stayed on the train so we had to wait for him until he got back with another train.. it was okay, cause we arrived there at 7am. Walking through the city reaching our hostel, we participated the current Independence Day! We got a lot of free stuff, balloons and windmills, and enjoyed the parade of old cars.

Gdańsk is beautiful... completely different from Krakow, it's a mixture of Scottish, Polish and mainly German architecture. I know, originally it was Danzig, but still. I didn't expect that it gonna be so similar to Bremen... Walking in the fascinating old city center impressed all of us. I didn't know it before but the movement of Solidarity started in this city, so we saw a huge monument and also, the museum that made me think of those times in the past. In the evening we went to an Irish pub, where unfortunately couldn't drink cider beer, but a regular tyskie with syrup kinda compensated us. Moreover, some other (Northen) Irish guys in the pub were singing "interesting" Irish song :P

it's soooo German :)
Sopot, the other city that we explored, is right next to Gdańsk, 17 minutes by train, and it was the city where we finally could enjoy the panorama of the see. The pier is the longest not only in Poland, but also in Europe (or the world?). We climbed the old lightening house, and took pictures of the strange house on the main street.
main street of Gdańsk
Oh, and I have to mention our hostel that practically was a hotel :P We had 4 bed rooms, but the place was not crowded so we didn't have to share them with strangers. I've never stayed to a hostel like this that moreover was really cheap!
flower and Flora :)
Next trip? It seems we're going to Vilnius :D

first successes

welcome to Krakow
Today I ordered a pizza alone, in Polish :D Kasia and Iwona didn't help me (they couldn't anyway cause they were just keep laughing about me :P) and the pizza finally arrived so if anybody needs some help to order on phone in Polish, you're more than welcome to ask me haha :D

Tomorrow (actually it's already today :P) Valentina, Cory, Shirley and I are leaving to Gdansk for 3 days!!!! It's going to be an exciting train-trip regarding the fact that it takes 15 hours to get there... whatever, we gonna sleep (or a bit study, too, in my case)
the view from Kopiec Krakusa

Here are some pictures from Kopiec Krausa that I loved so much :) I explored it when I had a lonely walk 2 days ago in Podgorze. Previously I was convinced that the whole district is scary but I have to admit that it’s completely not true.
So see you on Monday with the next post about Gdansk :)

Julien, our hero :D

Okkay, finally I decided to post some exclusive photo on my blog but not on facebook :D Concerning my picture and the tree: I wanted to take a picture with Zita sitting on the tree but I had to realize I cannot come down and also, I cannot move away so Zita couldn't come up next to me...I guess she didn't even want it :P Also, suffering on the tree, a random turist took some pictures about me LOL it was more than embarrassing :D Hopefully he thought I'm just a crazy Polish girl :P The other picture with Julien...well, he was a hero and it's enough if WE know why :D
